Scientific, Research and Innovation work

      The research activities of the Faculty of Livestock Raising and Water Bioresources are coordinated by the Research Institute of Livestock Production Technologies and Quality, which is a structural subdivision of the Faculty, founded according to the Order No. 281 of the Rector of NAU of Ukraine of June 29, 2001, on the basis of the Decision No. 9 of the Academic Board of NAU of Ukraine of June 26, 2001, under the auspices of problem research subdivisions and educational, scientific and research laboratories of the Educational and Research Institute, for the purpose of concentrating efforts on solving important scientific problems and implementation of innovative activities.

      The priority areas of research at the Research Institute of Livestock Production Technologies and Quality in the near future are:

  • creation of new breeds, types and lines of dairy and meat catle, poultry and bees and improvement of existing ones;
  • development of fundamentally new technologies for the preservation of generative cells and embryos of the main species of farm animals;
  • Improving pork, lamb and rabbit production technologies through energy and resource-saving approaches to business;
  • Improving livestock production technologies in contaminated areas;
  • development of modern technologies for the production of new generation mineral food additives and improvement of biotechnological methods for the production of bioactive substances;
  • theoretical and experimental substantiation of methods of animal feeding to stimulate their productivity, regulate metabolic processes and increase the biological value of livestock products;
  • development of projects to justify the use of water resources for fish farming purposes;
  • assessing the state of inland fish fauna and developing effective methods of reproduction and commercial use of valuable fish species;
  • growing ornamental fish in artificial aquatic systems with elements of planning and aqua design;
  • creation of functional food using marine aquaculture facilities and bee products.

     The Faculty regularly organizes conferences, debates, round tables, scientific groups, meetings of students and post-graduates with prominent scientists, entrepreneurs, various contests, forums, intellectual game "Brain ring", presentation of research projects, etc.

     Students also take an active part in the faculty's research work. This is carried out through a set of scientific, methodological and organizational activities that provide students with research skills in accordance with their chosen specialty within and outside the educational process. To carry out these activities, 14 student scientific circles from various fields are functioning at the departments of the faculty:

  1. Animal genetics.
  2. Biotechnology of animal reproduction.
  3. Animal breeding and selection.
  4. Animal genetic resources.
  5. Technology for the production of eggs and poultry meat.
  6. Innovative technologies in pig production.
  7. Ontogeny of farm animals.
  8. Horse breeding and equestrian sports.
  9. Beekeeping.
  10. Ichthyological.
  11. Ornamental aquatic resources.
  12. Hydrobiology.
  13. Fish farming.
  14. Animal Planet.
