The Department of Accounting and Taxation is the leader in training specialists in the specialty "Accounting and Taxation" ("Accounting and Auditing"). The periodization of the history of the department with clarifying names (accounting and auditing; accounting, analysis and auditing) appears as a sequential change of chronological stages. Its founder-organizer and first director in 1959 was docent S. M. Rohachenko. Other heads of departments, recognized teachers and scientists made a significant contribution to the formation of young specialists, improvement of educational and methodological work, development of science: I.V. Malyshev, H.G. Kireitsev, L.K. Suk, L.S. Shatkovska, S.O. Oliynyk, V.M. Yaroshynskyi, T.G. Kaminska, E.V. Kalyuga, L.V. Gutsalenko. Currently, the department is headed by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Lytvynenko Volodymyr Serhiyovych.

The Department of Accounting and Taxation is the leader in training specialists under the "Accounting and Audit" educational program, specialty 071 "Accounting and Taxation".

The department actively cooperates in the direction of research and implementation of information systems in accounting with leading software developers: "M.E.Doc", "BAS Accounting", "MASTER: Accounting", "AGRIANALYTICA" and others.

As part of cooperation with the Union of Business Automatizers, the Center for Educational Initiatives in the Application of Information Technologies in Accounting and Taxation was organized. The educational-scientific-production laboratory "Information technologies in accounting" operates on the basis of the department, which provides services in training and application of modern accounting software.

The teaching staff of the department is constantly improving their professional qualifications. In order to optimize practical activities, scientific and pedagogical staff of the department underwent advanced training under the certification program for the use of BAS Accounting and M.E.Doc.IS software products in the educational process for accounting, electronic document management and financial reporting. All this is an official confirmation that teachers effectively use a wide range of possibilities of the most common and modern accounting automation programs in their work, and the training of accounting and taxation specialists is carried out according to modern innovative approaches.
