UniGreen hosts a delegation from Ukraine
On November 13-17, 2023, within the framework of cooperation with the European Alliance UniGreen, representatives of NULES of Ukraine are visiting the Polytechnic University of Coimbra (Portugal). This event is supported by partners from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and the Polish International Exchange Agency NAWA. The delegation includes Oleksandr Labenko, Director of the ERC International Activities, Olena Kovtun, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Management for International Activities, and Alla Kravchenko, Deputy Dean for International Activities of the Faculty of Humanities and Pedagogy.
The visit is part of the UniGreen Alliance's strategy for the WP4 Mobility work package, which aims to increase internationalization and mobility activities for both students and academic staff.
It is interesting to note that the UniGreen alliance has ambitious goals to fulfill all strategic objectives by 2033 and, by implementing the European Strategy for Universities, to create a single integrated educational platform for issuing a single European diploma.
Currently, the Alliance unites 8 universities, joined by 57 associate partners with a total of more than 82,000 students and 7,750 employees from 75 faculties and 84 research centers.
An important component is also the development of academic and scientific mobility within the alliance to carry out joint research. It is also planned to create a single International Center to implement the goals of the alliance.
The program of the visit includes a number of meetings to discuss the possibilities of developing cooperation with representatives of the Polytechnic University of Coimbra, in particular, with the Vice President and Institutional Coordinator for International Affairs Prof. Maria João Cardosos, Vice President Prof. Daniel Gomes, staff of the International Department of the University. Daniel Gomes, members of the International Department: Dulce Caetano, Catarina Marques. As part of the visit, a meeting was also held at the Coimbra City Hall.
The city of Coimbra has had city government rights since 1111 and was the capital of Portugal from 1131 to 1255. The delegation was welcomed by the Head of the Education Department of the City Hall Dra. Ana Cortez Vaz, Director of the Institutional Office for International Activities of the City of Coimbra Dra. Joana Gouveia Loureiro, Director of the Institutional Office for International Activities of the City of Coimbra.
Representatives of the City Hall emphasized that from the very beginning of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine by its northern neighbor, the community of Coimbra has provided and continues to provide comprehensive support to Ukrainian citizens, including medical services, adaptation courses, language and humanitarian support.
The program of the visit includes a number of meetings to discuss the possibilities of developing cooperation with representatives of the Polytechnic University of Coimbra schools, namely: Business School, Agricultural School, INOPOL Academy of Entrepreneurship.
